In August 2015, the centre welcomed four new residents to the gardens. Ruler, Speckles, Emma and Tina, known as the Briardale Birds. They form part of a project working in partnership with Northumbria Healthcare Trust’s project, Aging Well. The chickens form part of a programme where residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia take care of the birds and socialise them to the point where they will sit on your lap and fall asleep.
