The New Roots shop has been open now for roughly three weeks and has been ticking over quite nicely. Our focus has been primarily getting the premises ship shape and welcoming to all visitors and it is safe to say we are 95% of the way there. The Woodshed guys have outdone themselves in the construction of the Shop. The same can be said of volunteers Donna and Becca who have been working in the shop crafting, selling, herb crushing and managing, outstanding work ladies!
Now that the construction phase is almost complete we will be turning our attentions to the recruitment and training side of the project once again.
The Friendship Club and Friday Lunch Club have seen a lot of activity over the past two weeks. After Jean had a wonderful meeting with Kay from the Northumbria Healthcare Trust, there had been a spike in enquiries about the Friendship Club in particular, so much so that our Tuesday sessions are now at capacity and we only have space for the Wednesday group.
Friendship Club at Christmas
The Friday lunch club has also seen a lot of increased interest from centre users and veterans of the Friendship Club, boosting it’s numbers. Thank you to everyone who uses both services and as ever, if you have any comments or suggestions just talk to me (Martin) or Jean and we’ll be happy to sort something out!
Just this morning, Hand in Hand Preschool had a visit from Northumberland Fire and Rescue! The brave guys and girls brought along one of their Fire Engines for the children to look at and explore. Needless to say there was a lot of excitement in our car park this morning!
Rula, Emma, Tina and Speckles are doing extremely well…too well in fact. If we don’t go outside with something for them to eat or play with we are harassed…but we love them!
